Who we are

The Naughty Little Cabaret is more than a show.

it’s a revolution, a refuge, and

a celebration of what makes us human.

In history, cabaret has been a beacon of light in dark times. Whether in the chaos of war, during political unrest or in times of social upheaval, cabaret has provided people with a place to connect.

In the 1920s, it was the voice of resistance against oppressive regimes. In the 1970s, it became a platform to promote sexual freedom and LGBTQ+ rights. Today, cabaret continues to be a safe haven for those whose voices have been silenced in mainstream culture.

Cabaret provides visibility for non-binary and gender non-conforming people. Within cabaret, identity isn’t merely accepted – it’s celebrated.

When Racine first began producing shows in Chicago, it wasn’t with the intention of making a political statement. Instead, it was a natural extension of his passion for bringing people together, and also of his love for vintage music and performance. He was inspired to rekindle the dying arts of cabaret and burlesque. He mounted his first show in 2013 with just five performers. Since then, he has gone on to work with hundreds of performers in dozens of countries.

We live in a world feels psychically fractured, digitally distracted, politically divided, and emotionally distant. Racine has the cure for what ails us. It’s a timeless remedy – bringing people together to celebrate their universal love of cabaret!

All the performers in NLC bring with them a lifetime of stories and experience. They are ready to share with each and every stranger who sits in one of our seats. So come. Immerse yourself in a world where nothing is taboo and everyone is welcome.
